Elastin Degradation Products among Obese Children with Family History of Arterial Hypertension
نویسندگان
چکیده
The aim of the study was to investigate the distribution of elastin-derived proteins (EDP) in the sera of obese hypertensive children with a family history of arterial hypertension. Eighteen obese hypertensive children with a family history of arterial hypertension were compared with 23 obese nonhypertensive children with a family history of arterial hypertension, 25 obese nonhypertensive children without family history of arterial hypertension and 21 healthy nonobese children. The highest level of EDP (151±42 ng/mL) was found in obese hypertensive children with a family history of arterial hypertension, and was significantly higher than in other groups. Obese nonhypertensive children with a family history of arterial hypertension had a significantly higher EDP (92±35 ng/mL) than controls, whereas obese nonhypertensive children without family history of arterial hypertension did not differ from controls (EDP 69±37 and 63±25 ng/mL, respectively). These results suggest an early elastin degradation in obese children susceptible (on the basis of family history) to hypertension. Additional studies are needed to elucidate the significance of this observation.

The aim of this study was to clarify the relation among systolic blood pressure (SBP), serum insulin, leptin, visceral fat accumulation and family history of hypertension, and to elucidate the pathophysiologic mechanism of blood pressure elevation in obese children. This study examined 109 obese children with a family history of hypertension (OF: 77 boys and 32 girls), and 83 obese children wit...

Hypertension is one of the most important modifiable risk factors of vascular heart disease. Control of hypertension in different age groups has a significant effect upon the control and prevention of vascular heart disease. A familial pattern is observed in the distribution of blood pressure in different societies. Family history of hypertension has a profound effect on the future risk of deve...
متن کاملRELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ANTI-ELASTIN IgA AND DEVELOPMENT OF MICROVASCULAR COMPLICATIONS: A STUDY IN DIABETIC PATIENTS WITH ARTERIAL HYPERTENSION
An important factor in the development of vascular wall lesions is degradation of the elastic fiber major protein elastin. Elastin peptides derived from this degradation are present in the circulation and are a stimulus for production of the anti-elastin antibodies (AEAbs) IgM, IgG and IgA. The aim of this study was to investigate the possible association between AEAbs and development of diabet...
